This week I would like to share a parable Jesus gave us in Luke 5:36-39. It says, “Then He spoke a parable to them…And no one puts new wine into old wineskins, or else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled, and the wineskins will be ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”

To receive the new thing that God has for us, you can’t remain your old self. We have to change to receive the new thing. You see, God loves us too much to allow you to miss out on the goodness of the new. That’s why it seems like we are stuck. We are trying to embrace the new without changing our old habits. We are trying to embrace the new without letting go of past insecurities and frustrations. The new cannot spring forth if there are weeds from the past. Let it go. Let God heal you. Be that new wineskin so you can carry that new wine on the inside.

Remember, the world is waiting to enjoy that fresh wine of yours.
